Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Evaluations in Miami & Broward County

Insurance-accepted comprehensive diagnostic evaluations — signed by a licensed Ph.D. psychologist

Autism Evaluation MiamiASD Testing FloridaCARS-2ABA Pre-AuthorizationMedicaid Autism EvaluationStep Up FES-UA

If you suspect your child — or yourself as an adult — may be on the autism spectrum, getting a proper Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluation (CDE) is the most important first step you can take. At PsychEd Solutions, P.A., Dr. Angela C. Brinson, Ph.D. delivers thorough, multi-component autism evaluations that meet all Florida insurance requirements, provide a clear diagnosis, and open the door to the services and support your family needs.

Our autism evaluations serve children as young as toddler-age through adults — and we understand how critical it is to get things right the first time. Families who arrive with incomplete or improperly signed evaluations often face months of delays in accessing ABA therapy and other services. That will not happen here.

Why it matters: Insurance companies — including all forms of Florida Medicaid, Carelon, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, and Molina — require a multi-component CDE signed by a licensed psychologist, developmental pediatrician, pediatric neurologist, or child psychiatrist before they will approve ABA therapy. Dr. Brinson is a licensed Ph.D. psychologist fully qualified to sign these reports. Every PsychEd CDE is built to pass insurance review.

What Is Included in Our ASD Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluation

A true CDE is never a single test. Our autism evaluations include all components required by Florida insurers and the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria:

Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS-2)Standardized observation-based autism rating instrument

Does my child need a doctor's referral before scheduling an autism evaluation?
No referral is required to schedule a CDE with PsychEd Solutions. However, your insurance may require a referral from your child's pediatrician for billing purposes. We recommend calling your insurer to confirm prior to your appointment.
Will the evaluation be accepted by my insurance for ABA pre-authorization?
Yes. Dr. Brinson is a licensed Ph.D. psychologist — one of the four provider types (along with developmental pediatricians, pediatric neurologists, and child psychiatrists) whose signature is required by insurers. All of our CDEs are multi-component and structured to meet Florida Medicaid, Carelon, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Molina, and other insurer requirements.
Do you offer evaluations in Spanish or Haitian Creole?
Yes. PsychEd Solutions provides trilingual services in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole — serving Miami-Dade and Broward County's diverse communities.
ADHD Testing & Evaluation

ADHD Testing & Evaluation in Miami & Broward County, Florida

Comprehensive attention and executive function assessments for children, teens, and adults

ADHD Testing MiamiADHD Evaluation FloridaAttention Assessment Children AdultsADHD Diagnosis BrowardExecutive Function Testing

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) affects millions of children, teens, and adults — yet it remains one of the most frequently misunderstood and under-evaluated conditions. At PsychEd Solutions, P.A., we provide comprehensive, multi-method ADHD assessments that go far beyond a simple questionnaire to give you clear, actionable answers.

Whether your child is struggling in school, your teen is losing focus and falling behind, or you're an adult who has always wondered if ADHD explains your challenges — Dr. Brinson's thorough evaluations provide the clinical documentation needed for treatment, medication management referrals, workplace and academic accommodations, and IEP or 504 plan eligibility.

What Our ADHD Evaluation Includes

Comprehensive Clinical InterviewDevelopmental, medical, and psychosocial history gathered from parent, client, and collateral sources

Cognitive & Executive Function TestingStandardized measures of attention, working memory, processing speed, and inhibition

Behavioral Rating ScalesParent, teacher, and self-report scales (Conners, BASC, or equivalent) across settings

Academic & School Record ReviewPrior evaluations, report cards, teacher comments, and existing IEP/504 documents

Rule-Out AssessmentIdentifying co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, learning disabilities, or mood disorders that can mimic ADHD

DSM-5 Diagnosis & Written ReportFull clinical report with diagnosis, ICD-10 codes, and specific recommendations

Who We Evaluate for ADHD

ADHD presents differently at every life stage. Our evaluations are tailored for each age group:

Children (Ages 4–12)School struggles, impulsivity, hyperactivity, difficulty following directions

Adolescents (Ages 13–17)Falling grades, disorganization, social challenges, emotional dysregulation

Adults (Ages 18+)Career difficulties, relationship strain, time management, undiagnosed since childhood

Women & Girls with ADHDOften overlooked — we evaluate inattentive presentation frequently missed in females

After Your ADHD Evaluation

Your written report from PsychEd Solutions can be used to:

School AccommodationsIEP eligibility, 504 plan, extended time, preferential seating, reduced distraction testing

College AccommodationsSAT, ACT, GRE, MCAT disability accommodations require a recent psychological evaluation

Medication ReferralA formal diagnosis supports referral to a psychiatrist or physician for medication evaluation

Workplace Accommodations (ADA)Documented ADHD supports requests for ADA accommodations in the workplace

Did you know? ADHD is one of the most common co-occurring conditions alongside autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, and anxiety. Many clients who come for an ADHD evaluation receive a more complete picture of their cognitive and behavioral profile through our comprehensive approach — avoiding the costly mistake of a one-dimensional assessment.
How is ADHD testing different from just filling out a questionnaire?
A true ADHD evaluation uses multiple methods: structured clinical interviews, standardized cognitive tests, behavioral rating scales from multiple informants (parents, teachers, self), and a review of records. Questionnaires alone are not sufficient for a clinical ADHD diagnosis. Our multi-method approach ensures accuracy and produces a defensible report accepted by schools, insurers, and other providers.
Can adults be diagnosed with ADHD for the first time?
Absolutely. Many adults — especially women — were never evaluated as children. An adult ADHD diagnosis can be life-changing, providing access to treatment, workplace accommodations, and a framework for understanding long-standing challenges.
Is telehealth available for ADHD evaluations?
Some components of the ADHD evaluation may be completed via telehealth. Contact us to discuss the best evaluation format for your child's or your own specific situation.

Most bariatric psychological evaluations are completed in a single 60–90 minute appointment. The written report and clearance letter are typically provided within a few business days.
Is the bariatric evaluation available via telehealth?
Yes. Bariatric pre-surgical evaluations may be available via telehealth for clients across Florida. Contact us to confirm whether your surgeon and insurance plan accept telehealth-conducted evaluations.
