Your child's battery is selected based on the referral questions, and may include structured interviews, standardized cognitive and academic measures, attention/executive-function tasks, rating scales from parents/teachers, and observation.

Understanding Testing & Assessments

Psychological Assessment

Evaluates cognitive and personality factors and includes a comprehensive interview, records review, and measures of mood, behavior, and social-emotional functioning. You receive a clear report with diagnoses (as appropriate), accommodations, and treatment recommendations. Feedback can be in-office, by phone, or via telehealth.

Comprehensive Psychological Assessment

Includes everything in the psychological assessment plus a full psychoeducational battery (cognitive + academic + processing). Results integrate learning profile and emotional/behavioral data into actionable school and home plans.

Psycho-educational Assessment

Focuses on cognition, learning processes, attention, executive functioning, memory, and academic achievement to answer questions about learning differences, ADHD, autism, or giftedness. Includes interviews, observations, and standardized testing.

Gifted Testing

Measures are selected by age and district criteria (e.g., WPPSI-IV, WISC-V, WAIS-IV, Stanford-Binet, WJ-IV Cognitive, TONI). Eligibility letters summarize measures and scores (including percentiles) to support school placement.

Emotional Support Animals: What Families Should Know

What is an ESA?

An Emotional Support Animal is prescribed by a licensed mental-health professional for a person with a qualifying mental-health disability when the animal's presence meaningfully alleviates symptoms. ESAs provide therapeutic companionship but are not the same as service animals.

ESA vs. Service Animals

  • Service animals (typically dogs) are trained to perform specific tasks for a person with a disability and are generally permitted in public spaces under the ADA.
  • ESAs are not task-trained and do not have public-access rights like service animals. ESAs may qualify for certain housing accommodations under the Fair Housing Act when documentation criteria are met.

During ESA evaluations, we follow clinical, ethical, and legal best-practice guidance and provide documentation only when criteria are met.
